Thinking on John 9:1-5.
The Pharisees were looking to assign blame for the man's blindness. However, Jesus was looking at the opportunity to bless the young man and his parents.
Of course, given the events across the past several days, I am seeing this verse in light of how can I be a blessing to others. Saint Francis of Assisi took this to the extreme - living his life completely for others - which may not be so far fetched as an application - or could be an over reaction for you to follow his example.
Consider:
1 Peter 3:18 - Jesus died for others
John 15:13 - "... to die for those we love ..."
I am not suggesting you go to the point of death to be a blessing to others (unless it happens to be God's obvious will in your life at that moment!) but, this is an example we can see of the kind of commitment we should have to one another. For one it maybe death, for another financial sacrifice, or as happened with me - to actually drop all of my walls and get real with a hurting sister/virtual daughter at that moment in time.
Of course, the absolute minimum any of us can do is to get serious in praying for others - whose needs we become aware of.
Which brings to mind, that if you are going to be in prayer for someone, or even for yourself, you have to give God the freedom to answer prayers His way. That also requires you understand God is going to bless you, or others you are praying for, His way as well!
