Zippers, But No Modesty

When I was a child and father was playing with ionized hydrogen, one of the scientists was this queer little guy whom loved zippers.  Even as a child I could recognize that the man was immensely intelligent and the more he thought on something, the more he would zip and unzip a spare zipper he carried in his pocket for just such moments requiring applied intelligence.

I remember him once telling me that the zipper was the most important invention ever created and to think on the brilliance it took to have thought up such a device!  Yeah and he is building the biggest bomb  ever ..... !

So this past weekend, I got suckered by my American cousin and Dutchman to drag some of my firearms to a show.  In all about seven of us had supplied enough toys to cover two eight foot tables.  (It was a horrible show, I will tell you more about that during the week!)

So, I am sitting at the table and a man walks up and starts talking to me.  His zipper is down.  I tried asking him if it thought it rather cool, did he forget to do anything recently, I see England - I see France - I see ..., etc.  He couldn't understand what I could be talking about and finally I had to tell him his zipper was down.  He turned all beet red and stomped off.

Gees, I was just trying to be nice and save him embarrassment!

Later a young couple walked up, he heavily tattooed, she a real looker.  I commented on his arm tattoos and he rolled up his short sleeves to show me the one I had pointed to.

So, he explained how the flames reaching up to the cross were just cool and how the motorcyclist popping a wheelie - while nailed to the cross - was representative of how culture has demonized the hero of the open highway.  At which point, he mentioned that the female was the one whom was doing the work.

I looked over to her and commented she was quite an artist.  She smiled.

I then asked him what the "WPR" stood for at the top of the whole design, but as my eyes turned to him, I saw her zipper was down too!  I was trying to figure out how to mention this to either him or her, when he said, "Oh, yeah, WPR stands for White Pride Rider."

I quietly bit my tongue and figured if he really was skin head, I was really not going to say a thing about the condition of his female's pants!

Anyway he bought one of DM's rifles and she took the change, promptly pulling down her shirt, popping a breast out and putting the bills inside her bra, then restoring all to how it was.

A quick look showed that neither my son nor his friend caught that one!  What was she thinking!

Ok, I have to admit to not having any response to a female whose only undergarment is a bra nor one whom would be so immodest in a crowd of men and boys!  Nor did I really have a response to someone telling me that they think my father's path in life was the correct one!

I have to imagine that like most American's, whom have not had to live under the shattered remains of the Reich, nor a father whom was a life-long dedicated Nazi, they have no idea what they are saying nor advocating.....

But this was not the weirdest experience of the weekend.....

Old Not Dead

I took the two kids, not on their own, out to dinner at Wendy's on Sunday night.  It really turned into an interesting time.....

Now this lady and her husband are sitting near us and as they leave, she smiles at me and says hello.  Absolutely no idea whom she is and fairly sure I have never seen her before.  Names I can never remember, but a face is eternal in my memory!

Youngest daughter goes, "So, who was that?", with her usual over protective tone in her voice.

"No idea."

"Then why did she say hello?"

Now son chimes in, "She smiled too!  That lady was checking him out and with her husband right there with her too!"

YD, "Say what?", in her best Hanna Montana imitation.  (how i hate that, sigh!)

Son, "Yeah, then there was this gal at the mall this evening doing the same thing!"

YD, "Say what!"

Me, "I think they were just being friendly."

Son explodes, "Someone was that friendly, I wouldn't be sitting here with you!"

Me, "I think it is nice that other people smile at one another and say hi."

Son, "Well that girl at the mall wasn't saying nothin'!  What's with that?  She was closer to my age! And if you had said anything she would be here right now!"

Me, "I am guessing she was 30-ish so almost old enough to be your mother...."

Son, "Thirty!  She is almost young enough to be your daughter!"

Me, "Well, I am only old and not quite dead!  Yet!"

From there, son's testosterone kicked in and we were off for a riot of a discussion.  I noticed that many people were hanging around just for the laughter he was causing,  It was that good and if I could ever remember a conversation you would be roaring with laughter too.

But, during the following discussion I was able to reiterate to YD that she was observing exactly what is wrong with males in this culture where "hot" is a product of physical attraction and has nothing to do with whom the person is.

And I have to admit I have thought about going back to that mall next Sunday to have this same talk with the mystery woman, if she was there again.  I am given of the impression she is hunting and does not realize that maybe she has more to offer a partner than her body.  Now I need to find a female I trust to chaperon that encounter.....  If I do it.  Will have to pray a great deal before I ever do such a thing though.  And, I am known on four continents for my extreme cowardice (as a few of you know!).

Of course I am a bit bolder when trapped and faced with having to get into some female's face over their behavior.  (As  happened so recently with the one named Bridget (sp?))

Turning into an interesting year.....

Living "The Life"

If there are reoccurring themes to conversations I have with people, the top two would be relationships (like finding your marriage partner) and what is a Christian Life.  Everybody and their mother writes on the first one, including me, as I have penned tons of material on this - some of which I have then found blogged by others!  Whatever, just so those whom read also listen..,...

So what does it mean to "Live a Christian Life"?  Is piety involved?  Is it that long list of DON'Ts so many live by to prove their Christianity?  Is it calling your material blessings, God's reward for your piety?  Well, lets do an easy browse of the Bible to find out.....

It is not what the world or the "Christian" cults believe:

Luke 12:15
Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." (NIV)

It is found only in God:

Deuteronomy30:19
19    I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20    and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
(NIV)

John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (NIV)

I John 5:12
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (NIV)

It is God living in me:

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (NIV)

Psalms 16:11
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. (NIV)

It is a holy life based on a thankful heart:

Psalms 34:8-14
8    Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
9    Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.
10    The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
11    Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12    Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days,
13    keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies.
14    Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
(NIV)

It is God's Word:

Deuteronomy 32:46-47
46    he said to them, "Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law.
47   They are not just idle words for you-- they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess."
(NIV)

Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (NIV)

It is a life of accepted stability:

1 Corinthians 7:17
Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches. (NIV)

It is the Crown at the end:

James 1:12
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. (NIV)

So, what does it mean to be living the Christian Life?  It is living the life God has given you.  Be what God made you to be.  If you are called in the midst of life - then seek God where ever you are in life and start living for Him!

Best idea to get started?  Activate your prayer life by praying your life, tell God all about it.  So many I know claim that since God knows it all, there is no reason to tell him about it.  But, once they do, it is amazing to see how their lives change - and guess what!  They still do not see God at work in their lives.  Yeah, you need to look for Him and His opportunities too!

Boycott Seattle

I am hardly awake and many are already expressing their displeasure with the Seattle Police Department's apparent white-wash of the murder of a visiting native woodcarver from Canada by a police officer.  Seems their internal affairs, nor the prosecutor's office can find a problem with shooting a someone multiple times whom was never even facing you and then calling it justifiable.

Yeah, even forensics pointed out that the cop was covering his butt by misrepresenting the facts in his report.  There were three witnesses whom contradicted the cop's testimony.  And yet, a threat to the life of cop now includes someone not facing him, while holding a closed knife.

Admittedly, the knife had been open - he was carving a piece of wood after-all!  But, he had closed it before being shot.  Just as the cop had ordered him to do.  He was even in the process of turning around - again just as the cop had ordered him to do.

Go figure.

Seattle, where cops can now MURDER you and it is justifiable - because, well they are cops and you are not,.

Seattle, where the vice squad can visit prostitutes for months - before arresting them.  Without any hint of blemish on the officers involved.

Seattle, where they can run pawn shops looking for thieves and even put in orders for items they would like to see stolen - and they have no liability, even when those items are used for personal use.

Seattle, where cops cause accidents, even killing you, but it is your fault because - well there is no one to contradict their tales even when their dispatch records show no reason for an officer to have had their lights or siren on at the time.  After all, a cop would never lie to cover his butt, now would he?

Seattle, where apparently you can be attacked by even plain clothes police and it is somehow your fault that they were drunk and unruly.  And you have NO right of self defense?  Yeah, you the victim get to go to jail while they figure out how to spin the testimonies of yourself and your friends so that the drunk cop is in the clear.

Seattle, where you can beat, stomp and kick a handcuffed subject on the ground - and it is their fault, unless a court decides otherwise, after months of trying to spin it in the media to their advantage.

Seattle, where you can legally punch out an unpleasant teenager, after you get then down - and everyone agrees it is the kid's fault.  Yeah, the only one with bruises was the girl, so whom as assaulting whom?

Seattle, where you can be manhandled to within an inch of your life, by cops wearing non reflective police uniforms - so that they are purposefully hard to identify.  And it is your fault for having run from two guys jumping you from an alley at night.  Of course, they will not be held accountable - nor the management whom choose this type of clothing.  After all, it is the victim's fault for believing his life was in jeopardy - and it still is.

Seattle, where if you attempt to arrest an officer for violation of the laws - you will be pursued by every cop in town.  Poor schmuck had to finally move to Idaho to get away the sudden harassment he was subjected to by Seattle, King Co and the WSP officers.  Sad, but true.

Seattle, where all animals are equal.  But, some are more equal than others apparently.....

Chatter

So my last post got me a little feedback!  Oldest Daughter wanted to know where to find Bridget (sp?), so she could slap her silly.  Middle Daughter was amazed.  Youngest Daughter was disgusted.  I am not sure son knows how to read....  Others challenged that this could not possibly be a true tale.  Oh, trust me, it is.....

On that last one, it is amazing to me how American believers discount the existence of the evil within our culture and society.  Occurrences such as I had to suffer through a week ago most certainly are presentations from the evil one, in hopes of nullifying our Christian witness.  It would have been easy to have done as she desired and no one would have been the wiser, right?  But, I take no credit, I am a fallen man just like everyone else - save for the fact that God had prepared me for such an event 35 years ago - much to my disgust then as well as now!

So why attempt such a thing?  No idea, I am guessing that something I am doing is making a difference for God right now.  No clue what it is, but I must be on the path of doing something right.  Just no idea other than it might be with a group of college guys I am working with right now.

Moving on, I have decided to resurrect my old recipe blog.  Given the health issues within my family across the past year, it will be much different than before: zero salt, only olive oil as a fat and other healthy ideas to keep my mother, aunt, uncle, cousin and me alive a bit longer!  Not sure how my cheese munching sister has managed to avoid the trend of the past year.....

Yes, photoshop can be fun!

Mature Christian Women Needed

With all of my children and my cars being dead I am forced to walk quite a bit and on occasion hitch-hike.  So Friday I was with my cousin in Puyallup helping with setup for the show as well as visiting with my mother, whom has done that show for 28 years.  Afterwards, I headed over to Tacoma to catch a bus that goes up highway 99, but I missed it.  Yep, time to hitch-hike again.  So, I started walking and stuck out my thumb when ever I heard a car approaching.  Eventually, one did stop, I confirmed that it was going my way and hopped in.

Ok, you need to know that when the window openned I was hit by about 80 degrees from inside the car and as it was about 30 outside - my glasses froze over instantly.  So, I was operating in the blind.  Else, I would not have violated Kris Law #1 - never be alone with a female of any age!  (Except the three I trust.....)

Once in, I whipped off my glasses to clean them as the car accelerated up to the speed limit and I knew this was going to be trouble.  The driver was a young woman dressed only in a string bikini!

I commented that it was a little cold to be so dressed and asked if she was coming from a pool.  She countered with, how did I like her body?

I asked what did she mean and she replied that she wanted to know if I thought she was too muscular or not enough, too tan or not enough, too small a bikini or too large, should she have bikini waxed or not.  I was stunned and asked what on earth was she talking about.

We were now stopped at a light and she turned to me and said, "Ok, do you like these?" At which point out pops the twins!  And she continues her questions for me, are they too large or too small, is skin pigmentation ok or need enhanced, etc.

Ok, my fiancee was a model and just as shallow as this girl was now appearing.  So, just as I had done in 1975 when my (future faithless) bride pulled that same stunt on me - I reached over, grabbed the two small triangles of materials and returned those puppies right back into captivity.

At this point Papa Plattner comes out of me for a visit and I explained to her that she does not need to use her body to attract men nor to get attention; she has a mind, a personality and a sense of humor that the guy she is looking for will see long before he ever sees her body.  (This is only a summary of a very long discourse!)  Then I shared the gospel with her, then prayed with her, asking God to please open her eyes and heart to Him, plus provide a MATURE CHRISTIAN WOMAN to help her understand all that I told her.

Her only comment was that I must be a lot older than I look and she drove me all the way I needed to go.  Albeit, she now felt very vulnerable and self conscious about her lack of clothing.....

On the one hand, I thank God it was me she picked up and not someone whom would have responded in the manner she was seeking.  On the other hand, I am sorry it was me because I need a memory erasure now.  Sigh.  (You guys know what I mean.....)

If you are a mature Christian female, I am pretty sure your town has at least one if not more just as confused 18-19 year old young women as Bridget (sp?) was Friday night.  Young women whom have been groomed by the world system, mass media, etc to understand that their physical appearance is all they have and their virginity is a disgrace.  You are desperately needed to reach out and help deflect even just one of these young women from the tragedy which awaits them.

I am sure you can find likely candidates in your church, Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls, Campfire Girls and Job's Daughters, as well as, the local Boys and Girls Clubs.

I know this is a tough calling but no one else is going to do it.....

Need For A Housecleaning

Do you really want to CLEAN?

John 2:13-17

1. Jesus is passionate about the REVERENCE of God, are you?

The question isn't will you get angry - but what will make you angry and how will you respond when it happens.

What consumes you?

"Whatever/whoever you want the most controls you", Ed Welsh

2. God has every RIGHT, He's already shown you!

Do you ever have an authority issue with Jesus?

He has give them the greatest and only sign of all.

3.  Jesus enters the temple today and it is YOU!

You are where God dwells today!

God loves you passionately and God hates sin completely.  Does your temple need to be cleansed?  God will help you, but if you don't .....

Psalm 139:23-24; "Search me O God and know my heart; see me and know my thoughts, see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Boredom

It just hit me yesterday afternoon, I am bored and very tired of not having a 9-5 job.  I guess with all of the packing and unpacking, it has just gotten very old!

My weekly allowance for the week is now spent and I am drumming my fingers wondering what else the week holds for me.

At least Swedish, ex-Rocket Scientist is planning on flying in this Thursday for a visit.  Then he is going to take the inland passage cruise.  Could be fun.....

I think I need a nap.....

My American Cousin

As I wrote the title of this, I was suddenly reminded this was the title of the play Abraham Lincoln was watching when he was assassinated.  If you ever get a chance to see it, it really is quite a humorous play.  (and having said that, you will probably hate it)

Anyway, I actually have several American cousins, three female - only one of which I know well, and three male - again only one of which I know well.

Probably one of reasons I know the male one well is because we have often been thought to be twins - it is a little freaky at times I have to admit especially now that we are aging a bit.  When we were much younger I often got comments intended for him, and once my face slapped by an angry teenage girl on his behalf he had broken up with.  (she felt really bad when she heard my accent and realized he has a 'twin' !)  Of course, he is several years younger and seems to act, er, well rather blond at times.  He also has the same number of children, acquired the more traditional way, and many of the same interests I have.  So, we get along pretty well, albeit I see so little of him.  Although I do have to admit I have never been jeep-ing and he lives to crawl the hills.

Why bring him up after all of these years?  Well, he spent the past weekend at an antique show and reported back that sales were sort of okay dollar-wise, however nothing really expensive sold.

So from an economic viewpoint this is interesting.  We had what is reported to be a strong Christmas selling season and his show was not too bad several months later.  This would mean that people are having more discretionary income for the likes of collectibles.  Interesting (he said thinking off all of his collectibles in storage!).

Anyway, I thought you would enjoy hearing from the horse's mouth that at least in Washington, things are starting to swing around a bit.  Of course, the housing market is dead and I had to sell my house for quite a bit under county estimates of value.  Yeah, I could have had a great trip to Tahiti for many months on that amount of loss......  Oh well.

Dutchman's BD

Friday night was Dutchman's birthday and his wife attempted to gather his friends and family to come and celebrate with him.  But, it turned out that only parents, Gaelic Girl and myself came.  Really surprised me.  I am guessing that either the economy has everyone in a bind (in spite of what the prada press keeps telling us) or Priest River is just too far out of the way to get to.

It was nice seeing his parents though, albeit, they have aged greatly since I last saw them.  It is so hard to reconcile the aged father with the man I vividly remember cursing us out and attempting to kill Dutchman and I with an iron table he hurled at us.  It probably weighed in at 150 pounds or more and took on the wall behind where we had just been standing.  Now he is frail, has Parkinson's and deaf.  His mother now has had a knee replacement and a hip replacement, but is almost bent in half by osteoporosis and is just as "dingy" as ever.

On the drive from Spokane's airport to his house she got to listen to Glen Beck.  So she commented how much she liked Glen Beck and how it is a shame that Muslims will not listen to him, etc.  GG chirped up and said that she thought GB was obnoxious and she really did not like him.  So, the mother goes, "Why, 'GG', I didn't know you were a Muslim!"  and then refused to talk to her for the rest of the night.  Oh how we all laughed after she and father retired for the night.

I have to admit I am not real sure what Dutchman sees in Priest River.  Major commute to almost everywhere.  Yeah the homes are nice, but heavily overpriced, even if your house does have a runway!  I tell you, one of these days I am going to get a call that Dutchman died because his (!$@%%^#^) ultralight smacked the ground too hard.  He maybe smarter than the average bear, but really needs to think long term to the dangers of these vechiles!

But, Dutchman is now offically as old as me.

Musical Saturday Morning

In Europe, the Beatles did not get much attention and I admit that being a teenager in Germany, we wondered exactly what was wrong with youth the world over - there were a great many better bands but their lack of popularity in America was the death sound for many a decent group.....

I guess I should also comment that Russia does have more than its fair share of young ladies whom are "lookers" - but the average ones I have encountered all have some really severe problems between their ears (no offense daughters I am referring to the ones I dd not raise!).  What is the old adage?  "Pretty to touch, delightful to hold, but if you catch it ..."  Well that story has been told!

Of course, it is at this point I must pop in some history about this song - it revolves around the swap of Gary Powers, an American spy, for the Soviet spy, Vilyam Genrikhovich Fisher.
