Immanuel

Read Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:22-23

Immanuel has the meaning of "God With Us".  In the Isaiah verse we can see it used to describe Jesus, however Jesus never went by this name that we are aware of anyway.

God came to dwell among us.  His conception was miraculous, but he had a very normal birth and with no evidence to the contrary, a very normal first 30-33 years.

God's presence was in Jesus.  Jesus was with us.  Hence, God was with us!  But, Jesus was fully human.  He was fragile, breakable and killable as the Jewish leadership was to prove.

God gave of himself.  He gave us the gift of His presence.  And, with Jesus' death, God gave us His Holy Spirit - so He would always be with us.....

I might really hate Mike W. Smith's songs - but Immanuel does have a central Christian point!
